On Friday 9 April 2021, Malaysia’s broking community and market intermediaries gathered at Bursa Malaysia Berhad’s (“Bursa Malaysia” or the “Exchange”) Eighth Annual Bursa Excellence Awards 2020 ceremony held at the W Kuala Lumpur Hotel.
Themed “Rising Together, Achieving Greatness”, the awards ceremony presented a total of 52 awards across 22 categories in the Securities, Derivatives and Islamic markets. In his speech, Tan Sri Abdul Wahid Omar, Chairman of Bursa Malaysia stated, “2020 was a very good year for the capital markets and our broker partners. Average Daily Trading Value (“ADV”) for the Securities Market more than doubled to RM4.2 billion, Average Daily Contracts for the Derivatives Market increased by 7.8%. The FBMKLCI closed the year 2.4% higher at 1,627.21 and total market capitalisation at 31 December 2020 was 6.1% higher at RM1,817 billion.”
