Bursa Malaysia Berhad (“Bursa Malaysia” or the “Exchange”) recognised 23 deserving brokers for their achievements at the recent Bursa Malaysia Broker Awards Appreciation held last Friday. The awards, which is in its second year, recognised a total of 42 brokers, for their contributions and achievements in building the capital market.
This year is the first time that the capital market was fully represented with the inclusion of the Derivatives segment in the categories of awards. The awards were broadened by nine new categories to include six for the Derivatives business and three more for the Islamic, bringing the total number of categories to 18.
The event was well attended by all the heads of the broking community and also present was Bursa Malaysia’s new Chairman Tan Sri Amirsham A Aziz.
Dato’ Tajuddin Atan, Chief Executive Officer of Bursa Malaysia, said, “We celebrate for the second time, our best and top performers in the broking community. Whilst we celebrate our successes, I hope that these awards will serve as a reminder to all of us to continue stepping up our efforts and be inspired to achieve even higher targets.”
The call to action for the broking community was to leverage on technology and find new ways to innovate their paths and services so as to remain relevant and reach new audiences. Citing how mobile internet technology had changed the way consumers behave, especially in the youth segment, Bursa Malaysia urged everyone to intensify their efforts particularly in the retail space with the aid of technology to activate interest in the Exchange.
