Bursa Malaysia Berhad (“Bursa Malaysia” or the “Exchange”) recognised the achievements of brokers, market intermediaries and principal advisers across Malaysia’s capital market at the Bursa Malaysia Excellence Awards 2025, presenting 59 awards across 29 categories spanning the Securities, Derivatives and Islamic markets.
Now in its 13th edition, the awards — themed “Recognising Excellence, Driving Market Vibrancy” — spotlight performance, professionalism and conduct that underpin orderly markets, trusted price discovery and sustained investor participation.
The ceremony was graced by YB Liew Chin Tong, Deputy Minister of Finance, representing YB Senator Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan, Minister of Finance II; Tan Sri Abdul Farid Alias,
Chairman of Bursa Malaysia; and Dato’ Fad’l Mohamed, Chief Executive Officer of Bursa Malaysia, alongside leaders from the brokerage community, market intermediaries, principal advisers, and participating organisations.
In his keynote address, YB Liew Chin Tong, Deputy Minister of Finance said, “Malaysia's economy recorded a firm growth of 5.4% in the first quarter of 2026, driven by strong domestic demand and a continued surge in electrical and electronics (E&E) exports. This underlines the nation’s economic resilience amid growing global uncertainties, built upon the strong semiconductor industry. I hope Malaysians can see that Malaysia is a technology nation, more than just a trading nation. Malaysia’s current uptrend is not just cyclical; it is a once-in-ageneration moment. If we keep up the good work, Malaysia will achieve its second takeoff.”
In 2025, Bursa Malaysia hosted 60 listings, up from 55 in 2024. The Securities Market reached an all‑time high of 2.5 million active CDS accounts, supported by over 524,000 new accounts opened during the year, while on‑market average daily trading value averaged RM2.545 billion. The Derivatives Market posted a second consecutive record year, with average daily contracts traded rising 3.7% year‑on‑year to 95,472. Bursa Suq Al‑Sila’ recorded its highest average daily trading value of RM48.8 billion, up 18% year‑on‑year.
Tan Sri Abdul Farid Alias, Chairman of Bursa Malaysia said, “The Bursa Malaysia Excellence Awards 2025 recognises the commitment and professionalism of our brokers, intermediaries and advisers, whose efforts continue to shape the strength of our market. The progress we have seen, in terms of liquidity, participation and overall market resilience, is made possible by a cohesive ecosystem working together to support orderly markets and trusted price discovery.
“As we build on this momentum, our focus remains on strengthening market vibrancy, driven by disciplined execution and sustained participation, and supported by quality intermediation. Together, these efforts will continue to strengthen the resilience and long-term growth of Malaysia’s capital market.”
Bursa Malaysia congratulates all award recipients and looks forward to working closely with the ecosystem to further deepen liquidity, strengthen price discovery and broaden meaningful participation, driving the next phase of Malaysia’s capital market.
