The much-anticipated annual Palm and Lauric Oils Price Outlook Conference & Exhibition (“POC”) 2020, organised by Bursa Malaysia Derivatives (“BMD”), will be held on an online platform, in light of the on-going developments surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. This is the first time in 31 years that POC will be held virtually.
Taking place on 27 – 28 October 2020, the two-day event will feature multiple insightful sessions by industry experts and provide participants with networking opportunities and a virtual space for brand exhibitions, delivered through an interactive platform designed to have the same benefits as the physical event.
YB Dato’ Dr Mohd Khairuddin bin Aman Razali, Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities, will deliver a Special Address at this year’s POC2020.
“2020 is a challenging year for many industries globally due to the outbreak of the Covid-19. The Malaysian palm oil industry is certainly not spared. I look forward to the discussions and deliberations at the conference that will be centred on the various challenges faced amid the Covid-19 as well as its impact to the palm oil industry.”
“POC is one of the largest and most respected global palm oil price outlook event, facilitating the exchange of ideas and enabling participants to share their assessments on the developments that will impact the price outlook on the palm and lauric oils markets. Despite the earlier cancellation of the POC2020, we remain committed to deliver the unique values of POC to you in a fully digital platform that transcends the current travel challenges and mass gathering restrictions,” commented Datuk Muhamad Umar Swift, Chairman of BMD and Chief Executive Officer of Bursa Malaysia Berhad.
Virtual POC2020 will feature a strong line-up of highly reputable speakers across six conference presentations and two-panel sessions that will focus on pressing topics including the impact of COVID-19 on the global economy and the long-term sustainability of the palm oil industry. Returning speakers at virtual POC2020 include Mr Christopher Fix, Managing Director, Head of Asia Pacific of CME Group and Datuk Dr Kalyana Sundram, Chief Executive Officer of the Malaysian Palm Oil Council.
