Bursa Malaysia Berhad Announces Changes To Its Board Composition

Bursa Malaysia Berhad announced the appointment of Madam Tan Ler Chin as an Independent Non-Executive Director to its Board of Directors line-up, effective 16 August 2023. 

Madam Tan brings with her a wealth of experience and in-depth knowledge of the financial markets and investment strategies, from the various senior management roles she has held, spanning 37 years in the country’s largest retirement fund, Employees Provident Fund (EPF). Madam Tan retired from EPF in April 2021, where she last held the position of Head of Risk Department of EPF.

Madam Tan holds an Honours degree in Economics, majoring in Statistics from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Diploma in Investment Analysis from Malaysian Association of Productivity, and Certified Diploma in Accounting and Finance by the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants. She has also attended the Wharton-National University of Singapore Banking Programme. 

Currently, Madam Tan serves as an Independent Non-Executive Director of Affin Islamic Bank Berhad, Senheng New Retail Berhad, Sunway Construction Group Berhad, and QL Resources Berhad.

Bursa Malaysia Berhad also announced the resignation of Puan Sharifatu Laila binti Syed Ali as Public Interest Director and Independent Non-Executive Director, effective 16 August 2023. She served Bursa Malaysia Berhad for almost 3 years, since 1 October 2020.
