Bursa Malaysia and Dalian Commodity Exchange (DCE) will jointly organise the third China International Oils and Oilseeds Conference (CIOC) in Guangzhou, China from 10 to 12 November 2008. CIOC is an annual collaborative effort by Malaysia and China that aims to promote and grow the markets for edible oils and oilseeds; as well as encourage hedging and arbitraging opportunities with exchange traded futures.
Chief Executive Officer of Bursa Malaysia Berhad, Dato' Yusli Mohamed Yusoff said, "CIOC has become a significant global platform that promotes greater cooperation amongst the producers, traders, suppliers and consumers of the oils and oilseeds fraternity. Bursa Malaysia shares a common interest with DCE in developing their respective futures markets. The CIOC provides the perfect platform to further increase traders' awareness of Bursa Malaysia and DCE's offerings globally."
President and CEO of DCE, Mr. Xingqiang Liu said, "With the joint effort of the two exchanges, CIOC has become the flagship conference with substantial influence to oil and oilseeds industry and investors. As a part of the strategic agreement, CIOC has become the pioneer and perfect example in collaboratively promoting global markets development amongst international futures exchanges."
The partnership between Bursa Malaysia and DCE in organising CIOC demonstrates the concerted commitment and effort of both exchanges in further developing the global edible oils market. Topics to be discussed at the three-day conference will include 'Growth Sustainability of China's Economy', '2008 Credit Crisis and Futures Trading', 'Impact Factors and Developing Trend of Crude Oil' and 'Current Situation and Future of China Oils and Oilseeds Processing Industry'.
