Date 26/05/2017

On May 25, 2017 Shenzhen Stock Exchange (SZSE) held the 5th anniversary celebration of the “Practicing Chinese Dream, Getting Inside Listed Companies” event and, together with Shenzhen Securities Regulatory Bureau, Shenzhen Association for Public Companies, Securities Association of Shenzhen and Shenzhen Asset Management Association, made the initiative of “getting close to your shareholders” to the SZSE-listed companies in Shenzhen to develop experience sharing and training on investor relationship management. 80 people including the principals of SZSE, Shenzhen Securities Regulatory Bureau, Shenzhen industrial associations and other initiators and the representatives of SZSE-listed companies, interested financial institutions and individual investors attended the celebration.

An SZSE principal addressed the conference and said that in the past five years of developing the “Practicing Chinese Dream, Getting Inside Listed Companies” event, a total of 187 phases of activities have been held. Around 12,000 minority investors have been brought to visit 192 SZSE-listed companies that cover 42 secondary industries including metallurgy, pharmaceutical manufacturing, business services and internet. The event provides a platform for broad minority investors and public companies to form “closer connection”. On the one hand, investors could understand their rights and learn the true operation conditions of companies. On the other hand, listed companies get an opportunity to explain their development philosophy to investors, showcase corporate image and earn investors’ understanding and recognition.

The SZSE principal further stressed that it is SZSE’s incumbent responsibility and undertaking to construct benign capital ecology together with all market participants. In recent years, SZSE has taken a series of moves, such as instructing and regulating listed companies’ cash dividend distribution, improving industrial information disclosure rule systems, building communication and exchange platforms and tightening front-line supervision to manage market disorder. All these measures have exerted positive effects on enhancing listed companies’ sense of responsibility, promoting investor relationship management and protecting investors’ legitimate rights and interests. The initiative of “getting close to your shareholders”, which SZSE and four other units propose to the SZSE-listed companies in Shenzhen, is designed to further strengthen SZSE-listed units’ sense of mission and responsibility so as to increase investors’ confidence in the companies, open hearts to investors, let investors rest assured, thus jointly promoting the construction of benign capital market ecology that favors mutual trust and win-win. In the future, by taking the event as an opportunity, SZSE will keep making innovation in event format, enriching event content, serving the center and reinforcing cooperation to better play the “Getting Inside Listed Companies” event’s roles in constructing capital market ecology.

A principal of Shenzhen Securities Bureau expressed in his speech that in recent years the Bureau has highly valued investor protection and earnestly guided the institutions under administration in developing “Blue Sky Campaign”, an investor protection scheme, to improve listed companies’ transparency. In addition, the Bureau has jointly launched the “Getting Inside Listed Companies” event to enable investors with the most direct and perceptual knowledge of listed companies, let them benefit from listed companies’ growth and make them truly have the sense of gain.

Moreover, there is a part of experience sharing at the celebration. Representatives of outstanding board secretaries of listed companies, institutional and individual investors are organized to exchange experience in investor relationship management and offer opinions and suggestions on the governance and regulated operation of listed companies. Service intermediaries are also invited to give training on the theories and practice of investor relationship management.
