The company BUDVAR CENTRUM conducted its IPO on the WSE main market at the trading session on 28 May 2007. The IPO was particularly notable as BUDVAR CENTRUM became the 300th WSE listed company. To highlight this occasion, the IPO was attended by Minister of the Treasury Wojciech Jasi?ski and President of the Chamber of Brokerage Houses Maria Dobrowolska.
WSE CEO Mr Ludwik Sobolewski opened the IPO ceremony and said that further thresholds are expected to be crossed within two years. “There will be 400 WSE listed companies in 2008 and certainly 500 companies in 2009. All this is possible thanks to a network of brokerage houses and investment companies, which operates increasingly well.”
Minister of the Treasury Mr Wojciech Jasi?ski: “Every time I come here, I notice that the Exchange is growing. The WSE is a source of good news thanks to the improving Polish economy. Some say it’s a natural development but I believe it is also owed to the government. Today’s IPO of the 300th company is a great achievement of the Exchange and the entire market infrastructure. Active measures taken by the WSE Management to enhance the importance of the WSE produce tangible results which must be credited to the Exchange managers. I am glad that Polish companies raise equity on the Exchange. I congratulate the Budvar Management on their decision and the company advisors on the successful IPO. Best wishes of a fast rising stock price; fast but without overheating,” said the Minister.
Ms Maria Dobrowolska : “Stock markets compete aggressively; the 300 companies is an indicator of a very strong position. The more listed companies, the stronger the WSE and the better its chance of success in building a regional trading centre in Warsaw. A growing number of companies and a rising market capitalisation is a shared objective of companies, intermediaries, and the WSE. We also aim at good co-operation in building the NewConnect market. I believe that the project will be successful and that Mr Sobolewski’s forecasts on the number of listed companies will come true,” said President Maria Dobrowolska.

The history of our company is brief. Today we are celebrating our anniversary: it was 10 years ago, on 28 May 1997, that Budvar issued its first invoice. The company has always enjoyed fast, sustainable growth. As a result, in 2004 we decided to enter the WSE. Today this has come true, mainly thanks to our employees. I can tell the investors that they did the right thing to invest in our stocks, as they have invested in the sector’s leader. We are not planning any spectacular events. We want to be a ‘boring’ company and to always communicate news of our very strong position.”
