Bucharest Stock Exchange: Market Participants’ Debates During The Roundtable Of January 22

Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) and Sibiu Financial-Monetary and Commodities Exchange (SIBEX) announced that a roundtable took place on January 22, 2011. It was attended by members of the CNVM, the BVB Board, the SIBEX Board and by SIF's representatives, as well as executives of the two exchanges. The discussion revolved on how to ensure the balance and the development of the Romanian capital markets.

The participants at the roundtable analyzed the evolution and the perspectives of the two exchanges, with the purpose of identifying solutions for increasing investors’ attractiveness and trust towards the capital market, as well opportunities to increase its efficiency.

They decided to resume the merging process between the two exchanges, preferring a consolidated market to a fragmented one.

They also decided to increase the role of corporate governance among issuers by harmonizing the reporting obligations. This would ensure a correct and complete information for investors, as well their management responsibility.
