Brooker Group, The First Company To Trade On The Thailand Market For New Investment On September 12

Date 11/09/2001

The Market for New Investment (MAI) will start trading on September 12 with Brooker Group as the first listed company. The corporate tax rate for the company has been reduced to 20% for five years. Tax incentives is believed to attract more listed companies to the MAI.

Ms. Sopawadee Lertmanaschai, acting president of the MAI, said: "The MAI will start trading for the first time on Wednesday, September 12 with the shares of the Brooker Group Co., Ltd. Brooker Group is a company providing business consulting and research services. The company was approved for listing on the MAI on June 13, 2001. The Tax corporate reduction is one of the incentives that Brooker considered to commence trading on the MAI. This is a government measure to increase the products traded on SET and MAI. The tax benefit is for a period of five years effective from the 2002 fiscal year onward. Brooker Group is now ready for trading on the MAI."

"The Market for Alternative Investment is very pleased to commence trading with the Brooker Group. This is the spark that will lead other small and medium-sized enterprises to become listed on the exchange, and it is also a new alternative for investors. The reduction in the corporate tax rate is an important incentive that will speed up listing on the MAI, and I believe that other companies will be interested in becoming listed," Ms. Sopawadee said.

Brooker Group sold 3,784,600 shares to the public at Bt 8.0 per share and issued 3,784,600 warrants in July. The share sale was highly successful. A company that has already received approval to become listed on the MAI but is waiting for the right time to sell shares is Team Precision Co., Ltd. Meanwhile, Roynet Co., Ltd.'s application for listed company status on the MAI is being reviewed by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the MAI. Investors will have more investment choices when the shares of the two companies are traded on the MAI.

"The Stock Exchange feels that reducing the corporate tax rate to 20% per year is a good reason for companies that are considering raising capital to speed up the decision to become registered and list on the MAI. The sooner the companies become registered, the faster they will receive the tax benefit. The MAI has personnel ready to advise companies that are interested in listing on the exchange, and we would be pleased to provide information to companies that contact us. Business which are interested on MAI listing can contact MAI officer at 0-2229-2021, 2024, 2026 at any time," Ms. Sopawadee said.
