Foreign Investment Balance

BOVESPA´s year-to-date foreign investment balance stood at BRL 692,257,691.00 or USD 349,800,122.05 as of November 30. This figure includes the net inflow of BRL 1,489,747,279.00 or USD 687,533,357.49, resulting from purchases of BRL 18,812,741,332.00 or USD 8,682,269,398.19 and sales of BRL 17,322,994,053.00 or USD 7,994,736,040.71, as shows the table below:

Novo Mercado and Levels of Corporate Governance

The IGC (Corporate Governance Index) closed November up 6.9%. It is composed of 90 companies: 40 of Novo Mercado and 50 of Level 1 and 2. These companies now represent 58% of BOVESPA´s total market capitalization, 62% of the total trading value of BOVESPA. Last month, one more company joined Novo Mercado: on November 13, Ecodiesel had its IPO.

Investors Groups


The monthly trading turnover was pushed once again by International Investors, who led transactions with a 33.32% stake against 33.33% in October. Institutional Investors ranked second with 28.01% compared to 29.67% registered in the previous month, followed by Individuals with 25.89% (against 24.05%); Financial Institutions, 9.33% (against 10.94%); Companies, 3.36%, (against 1.97%); and Other Groups, 0.09% (against a 0.04% stake).

Home Broker Stake

In November, the participation of Home Broker system in BOVESPA´s total result reached 8.15% and 23.56% in trade value and volume, respectively, against 7.18% and 21.50% in October. The system reached daily averages of 46,737 transactions worth BRL 404 million (against 38,579 trades worth BRL 317 million in the previous month). Currently provided by 53 brokerage houses, Home Broker registered 65,797 logins in the period. The average value of trade stood at BRL 8,600.

Trading Value

In November, BOVESPA turned over BRL 54.3 billion or USD 25.2 billion compared to BRL 52.9 billion in the previous month. The daily average stood at 103,819 worth BRL 2.8 billion or USD 1.3 billion, compared to 93,778 trades worth BRL 2.5 billion registered in October. The most active stocks in terms of trading value were: Petrobras PN (BRL 6.23 billion); Vale R Doce PNA (BRL 4.40 billion); Bradesco PN (BRL 1.52 billion); Usiminas PNA (BRL 1.42 billion); and Itaubanco PN (BRL 1.32 billion).

Markets

Cash Market was responsible for 91.6% of the total value registered in November, followed by Options Market (4.9%) and Forward Market (3.5%). After Market amounted to 13,475 trades worth BRL 162,726,867.18 (against 15,952 trades worth BRL 140,917,194.96 registered in the previous month).


Ibovespa

The benchmark Ibovespa broad index closed November up 6.7% at 41,931 points, thus registering a 25.3% rise so far this year. The index reached an overall time record on November 23, closing at 42,069 pints. The best performing stocks in the period were Brasil T Par ON (+25.9%); CCR Rodovias ON (+20.4%); Comgás (+16.4%); Acesita PN (+16.2%); and Souza Cruz ON (+14.6%), while the worst performing stocks were Celesc PNB (-7.8%); Tam S/A PN (-6.2%); Sid Nacional ON (-2.7%); Ipiranga Pet PN (-2.1%); and Copel PNB (-2.0%).

Other Indices

The following indices closed the month up: IGC (+6.9% at 4,823 points), IBrX-50 (+7.1% at 6,052 points), IBrX-100 (+7.3% at 13,624 points), ITEL (+8.3% at 1,012 points); ITAG (+5.6% at 6,488 points), IVBX-2 (+5.4% at 4,422 points); ISE (+5.7% at 1,337 points); INDX (+6.7% at 6,803 points) and IEE (+3.4% at 12,866 points).


Market Capitalization

In November, the market capitalization of BOVESPA-listed companies amounted at BRL 1.46 trillion or USD 673 billion.

Fixed Income

In November, 1 FIDC (Receivable Investment Funds), 4 CRIs (Real Estate Receivable Certificate) and 1 Corporate Bond have started to trade on BOVESPA Fix and SOMA Fix Markets. The trading value of BOVESPA fixed income markets turned over BRL 21,071,583.45 or USD 9,792,521.44 (against BRL 126,749,991.00 totaled in previous month). Out of this total, BRL 5,106,566.68 referred to FIDCs, BRL 7,200,647.56 to CRIs (Real Estate Receivable Certificates) and BRL 8,764,369.21 to Corporate Bonds.

BOVESPA Popularization Campaign

Since September/2002, the popularization campaign BOVESPA Where You Are has stimulated the creation of 1,321 investment clubs. The campaign resulted in 33 new investment clubs in November this year, thus raising the number of new registrations in 2006 to 377. BOVESPA had listed a total of 1,598 clubs as of November 30. According to last data available (October), investment clubs totaled BRL 8.5 billion in net asset and 130,343 investors.
