Foreign Investment Balance
BOVESPA’s year-to-date foreign investment balance presented a deficit of BRL 550,136,727.00 or USD 224,650,748.02 as of June 30. This figure includes the net outflow of BRL 2,260,116,291.00 or USD 1,044,271,261.38, resulting from purchases of BRL 16,534,686,527.00 or USD 7,639,738,727.07 and sales of BRL 18,794,802,818.00 or USD 8,684,009,988.45, as shows the table below:

Novo Mercado and Levels of Corporate Governance
For the first time, the 78 companies that compose the IGC (Corporate Governance Index) were responsible for 53% of BOVESPA’s total market capitalization. In addition, they represented 54% of the trading value and 56% of trades on BOVESPA’s cash market.

Investors Groups
The monthly trading turnover was pushed once again by International Investors, who led transactions with a 37.60% stake against 40.66% in May. Institutional Investors ranked second with a 25.96% participation compared to 26.84% registered in the previous month, followed by Individuals with 22.88% (against 23.76%); Financial Institutions, 9.06% (against 12.17%); Companies, 3.08%, (against 1.50%); and Other Groups, 1.43% (against a 0.15% stake).



Home Broker Stake
The Home Broker registered 57,322 logins to the system in the period and its stake in BOVESPA total trade volume stood at 20.76%, while its participation in terms of trade value was 6.53%. Currently provided by 54 brokerage houses, the system reached daily averages of BRL 258 million and 32,921 transactions. The average value of trades stood at BRL 7,800.


Trading Value
In June, BOVESPA turned over BRL 47.1 billion or USD 20.92 billion compared to BRL 65.1 billion or USD 29.9 billion in the previous month. The daily average stood at 81,984 trades worth BRL 2.2 billion or USD 996 million, compared to 97,650 trades worth BRL 2.9 billion or USD 1.4 billion registered in May. The most active stocks in terms of trading value were: Petrobras PN (BRL 5.92 billion); Vale R Doce PNA (BRL 4.18 billion); Bradesco PN (BRL 2.07 billion); Usiminas PN (BRL 1.91 billion); and Itaubanco PN (BRL 1.71 billion).





Markets
Cash Market was responsible for 94.1% of the total value registered in June, followed by Options Market (2.8%) and Forward Market (3.1%). After Market amounted to 16,281 trades worth BRL 131,112,401.05, against 25,962 trades worth BRL 214,117,062.53 registered in the previous month.



Ibovespa
The benchmark Ibovespa stock index closed June up 0.2% at 36,630 points, thus registering a 9.4% rise so far this year. The best performing stocks in the period were Contax PN (+19.5%), Brasil T Par ON (+14.2%); Tim Part S/A ON (+10.2%), Eletrobras PNB (+10%) and Eletrobras ON (+9.3%), while the worst performing stocks were Brasil ON (-11.0%); Telemar PN (-8.0%); Telemar ON (-7.9%); Vivo PN (-7.7%); and Telemig Part PN (-7.1%).




Other Indices
The following indices also closed the month up: IEE (+2.1% at 11,268 points); IVBX-2 (+1.3% at 3,758 points); ITEL (+0.9% at 832 points); ISE (+0.2% at 1,122 points); IGC (+0.2% at 4,080 points); and ITAG (+0.2% at 5,475 points). However, the IBrX-100 and the IBrX-50 presented a slight drop, closing the month down 0.4% (11,830 points) and 0.3% (5,319 points), respectively.


Market Capitalization
The market capitalization of BOVESPA-listed companies amounted to BRL 1.28 trillion or USD 593 billion in June against BRL 1.30 trillion registered in the previous period.





Fixed Income
In June, 3 Corporate Bonds, 1 FIDC (Receivable Investment Fund) and 1 CRI (Real Estate Receivable Certificate) have started to be traded on BOVESPA Fix and SOMA Fix Markets. The trading value of BOVESPA fixed income markets turned over BRL 94,331,153.72 or USD 43,585,069.86 (against BRL 171,390,102.06 or USD 78,687,894.06 totaled in the previous month). Out of this total, BRL 210,671.48 or USD 93,702.96 referred to Corporate Bonds; BRL 48,066,689.53 or USD 21,379,216.80 to FIDCs; and BRL 46,053,792.71 or USD 20,483,915.76 to CRIs.




BOVESPA Popularization Campaign
Since September/2002, the popularization campaign BOVESPA vai até Você (BOVESPA goes to you) has stimulated the creation of 1,171 investment clubs. The campaign resulted in 37 new investment clubs in June this year, thus raising the number of new registrations in 2006 to 227. BOVESPA had listed a total of 1,492 clubs as of June 30. According to last data available (May), investment clubs totaled BRL 7.7 billion in net asset and 125,300 investors.
