Foreign Investment Balance
BOVESPA´s year-to-date foreign investment balance presented a deficit of BRL 1,205,062,458.00 or USD 525,599,985.68, as of July 31. This figure includes the net outflow of BRL 654,925,731.00 or USD 300,949,237.66, resulting from purchases of BRL 11,643,021,745.00 or USD 5,350,161,632.66 and sales of BRL 12,297,947,476.00 or USD 5,651,110,870.32, as shows the table below:

Novo Mercado and Levels of Corporate Governance
The IGC (Corporate Governance Index) closed July up 1.1%. It is composed of 81 companies: 33 of Novo Mercado and 48 of Level 1 and 2. These companies now represent 55% of BOVESPA´s total market capitalization, as well as 58% of the total trading value. Last month, two new companies joined Novo Mercado: on July 24, MMX had its IPO and, on July 27, BOVESPA welcomed the IPO of Abyara, which became the 33rd company joining Novo Mercado.

Investors Groups
The monthly trading turnover was pushed once again by International Investors, who led transactions with a 32.63% stake against 37.60% in June. Individuals ranked second with 27.68% compared to 22.88% registered in the previous month, followed by Institutional Investors with 27.31% (against 25.96%); Financial Institutions, 9.28% (against 9.06%); Companies, 3.02%, (against 4.4%); and Other Groups, 0.08% (against a 0,2% stake).



Home Broker Stake
The participation of the Home Broker system in BOVESPA´s total results set records in terms of trade value and volume, reaching 8.14% and 20.76% in July respectively, against 6.53% e 23.63% in June. The system reached daily averages of 34,801 transactions worth BRL 258 million (against 32,921 trades in the previous month). Currently provided by 53 brokerage houses, the Home Broker registered 57,598logins to the system. The average value of trade stood at BRL 7,400.


Trading Value
In July, BOVESPA turned over BRL 36.9 billion or USD 16.9 billion compared to BRL 47.1 billion or USD 20.92 billion in the previous month. The daily average stood at 76,267 trades worth BRL 1.7 billion or USD 803 million, compared to 81,984 trades worth BRL 2.2 billion or USD 996 million registered in June. The most active stocks in terms of trading value were: Petrobras PN (BRL 4.70 billion); Vale R Doce PNA (BRL 2.44 billion); Bradesco PN (BRL 1.54 billion); Usiminas PN (BRL 1.44 billion); and Itaubanco PN (BRL 1.06 billion).





Markets
Cash Market was responsible for 91.4% of the total value registered in July, followed by Options Market (4.6%) and Forward Market (4%). After Market amounted to 17,992 trades worth BRL 133,119,769.71, against 16,281 trades worth BRL 131,112,401.05 registered in the previous month.


Ibovespa
The benchmark Ibovespa stock index closed July up 1.2% at 37,077 points, thus registering a 10.8% rise so far this year. The best performing stocks in the period were Perdigão S/A ON (+25.5%), CCR Rodovias ON (+15.5%); Unibanco Unt (+8.2%), Bradesco PN (+8.1%) and Souza Cruz ON (+7.7%), while the worst performing stocks were Braskem PNA (-14.9%); Trans. Paulista PN (-12.2%); Contax PN (-10.7%); Tim Part. S/A PN (-10.6%); and Embraer ON (-7.0%).




Other Indices
The following indices also closed the month up: ISE (+3.3% at 1,159 points); ITAG (+2.5% at 5,614 points); IBrX-50 (+1.9% at 5,421 points); IBrX-100 (+1.6% at 12,028 points); and IGC (+1.1% at 4,128 points). On the other hand, the following indices ended the month down: ITEL (-1.0% at 823 points); INDX (-0.8% at 5,894 points); IVBX-2 (-0.3% at 3,746 points); and IEE (-0.2% at 11,240 points).


Market Capitalization
The market capitalization of BOVESPA-listed companies amounted to BRL 1.27 trillion or USD 584 billion in July against BRL 1.28 trillion or USD 594 billion registered in the previous period.





Fixed Income
In July, 5 Corporate Bonds, 4 CRIs (Real Estate Receivable Certificates) and 2 FIDCs (Receivable Investment Funds) have started to be traded on BOVESPA Fix and SOMA Fix Markets. In July, the trading value of BOVESPA fixed income markets turned over BRL 56.96 million or USD 26.08 million (against BRL 94.33 million or USD 43.58 million totaled in previous month). Out of this total, BRL 51,167,417.46 referred to FIDCs; and BRL 5,793,657.37 to Corporate Bonds.




BOVESPA Popularization Campaign

Since September/2002, the popularization campaign BOVESPA vai até Você (BOVESPA goes to you) has stimulated the creation of 1,199 investment clubs. The campaign resulted in 28 new investment clubs in July this year, thus raising the number of new registrations in 2006 to 255. BOVESPA had listed a total of 1,517 clubs as of July 31.

According to last data available (June), investment clubs totaled BRL 7.8 billion in net asset and 125,100 investors.
