BOVESPA's Year-to-Date Foreign Investment Balance registered an inflow of USD 916.58 million in the end of February 2006. This figure includes the net outflow of USD 263 million in February, resulting from purchases of USD 8.01 billion and sales of USD 8.28 billion, as shows the table below:

BOVESPA's Indices Performance in 2006
The IBOVESPA stock index, composed of BOVESPA's 57 most liquid
stocks and options, reached three closing points' overall records in
February, ending the month at 38,610 points, representing a positive
variation of 0.5%.
Investors' Participation on Monthly Trading Turnover
The monthly trading turnover was pushed once again by International
Investors, that led transactions with a 36.17% stake against 35.13%
in January.
Trading Value Statistics
In February, BOVESPA turned over BRL 48.3 billion or USD 22.4
billion compared to BRL 46.3 billion or USD 20.4 billion in the
previous month. The daily average stood at 89,088 trades, with BRL
2.7 billion or USD 1.2 billion, compared to 77,680 trades worth BRL
2.2 billion or USD 971 million registered in January.
Cash, Options and Forward Markets Evolution
Cash Market was responsible for 93.8% of the total value registered
in February, followed by Options Market (3.4%) and Forward Market
(2.8%)
Fixed Income Instruments Trading in BOVESPA
In February, two new Corporate Bonds have started to be traded on
BOVESPA Fix and SOMA Fix Markets. The trading value of BOVESPA fixed
income markets turned over BRL 31,309,256.83 or USD 14,482,138.40
compared to BRL 17,978,283.58 or USD 7,939,359.92. Out of this
total, BRL 25,367,952.90 or USD 11,733,980.36 referred to FIDCs
(Receivables Investment Funds) and BRL 5,941,303.93 or USD
2,748,158.04 to CRIs (Real Estate Receivable Certificates).
Market Capitalization
The market capitalization of BOVESPA's listed companies amounted to
BRL 1,298 trillion or USD 608 billion in February 2006.
Novo Mercado and Levels of Corporate Governance Statistics
The IGC (Corporate Governance Stock Index) closed February up 0.5%.
It is composed of 68 companies: 21 of Novo Mercado and 47 of Level 1
and 2. The 68 companies of Novo Mercado and of the Levels of
Corporate Governance now represent 49% of the total market
capitalization of BOVESPA, as well as represent 52% of the total
trading value of BOVESPA.
In February, three new companies joined the levels of Corporate Governance: on February 8, Copasa had its IPO on Novo Mercado and Vivax joined Level 2. Also, on February 17, BOVESPA welcomed the IPO of Gafisa, which became the 21st company joining Novo Mercado.
