Borsa Italiana Welcomes ICAP As first Non-Executing Broker On IDEM

Date 13/09/2017

  • Allows inter-dealer brokers to enter trades on behalf of clients
  • Provides for a new route to execute orders on IDEM

Borsa Italiana today welcomed ICAP as the first Non-Executing Broker (NEB) on IDEM, the Italian derivatives market. Non-Executing Broker status allows an intermediary to enter pre-arranged trades on behalf of two or more member firms, across all products listed on the market.

IDEM is a leading European equity derivatives market, which saw 25 million standard contracts traded since the beginning of 2017 (equivalent to a notional value of over € 0.7 trillion).

IDEM’s liquid order books are supported by 24 global market makers.

Garry Stewart, Head of Equities, EMEA, ICAP said:
“ICAP look forward to be the first NEB to directly access and enter trades on behalf our clients on IDEM. This facility (NEB) will simplify ICAP’s trade flow and provide a much needed service for our client base and importantly support their business on Borsa Italiana.”

Nicolas Bertrand, Global Head of Derivatives Markets and Commodities of London Stock Exchange Group, said:
“We are delighted to welcome ICAP as the first Non-Executing Broker on IDEM, the fast growing derivatives market of Borsa Italiana. There is strong and increasing demand for access to Italian derivatives products and the addition of Non-Executing Broker status will help to broaden the client network of IDEM to respond to this demand.”
