Consistent with the criteria for the calculation of the indices, the weighting with which each individual stock will enter the basket will be determined on the morning of March 24, 2003. This will be done using the opening price of each share as base price and the relative values for the number of shares in circulation shown in the Official List on March 19, 2003 (adjusted as necessary to take account of operations involving companies' share capital). These information will be made available on March 20, 2003.
Borsa Italiana S.p.A. will disseminate all further information regarding the revision via the usual information channels.

1 On Interbanca shares a tender offer is currently in progress (refer to the Italian Exchange Announcement nr.1370 of February 12, 2003). After the tender offer's results Interbanca shares will be excluded from the MIDEX component list if it will appear reasonably certain that the fundamental requirements for the inclusion in the MIDEX index (listing at the Stock Exchange, adequate liquidity, adequate capitalisation) will cease to exist. In that case they will be replaced in the index by Banca Popolare di Cremona (first reserve stock of the MIDEX index on the basis of the ILC ranking) starting from March 24, 2003.
