The latest edition of MarketIN is packed with snippets of information. The month of September saw many different changes to the world of Borsa Italiana, all of them important: the new configuration of the equity markets came into effect, the new website www.borsaitaliana.it went live and the process began that will lead to the acquisition, as part of a joint venture with Euronext, of a majority interest in MTS S.p.A..

The front page article entitled “All the changes underway in Borsa Italiana’s markets” describes the new configuration of the equity markets, effective as from September 19th and designed to simplify its structure, bringing it more into line with the needs of issuers, intermediaries and investors. The article describes all the changes introduced and there are also two summary charts effectively setting out the new trading hours and all the companies listed in the new segments.

Page 2 on the other hand announces the launch of the new Borsa Italiana website, which took place on September 19th, explaining the main changes that have led to a major step forward in access to financial information, in terms of ease and immediacy of use. The website has been revamped in terms of graphics, contents and navigation structure. The advertising campaign is currently “on air”.

With revenues of 60.7 million Euros, MTS is one of the most important electronic platforms for the wholesale trading of European bonds. Borsa Italiana and Euronext consider that the combining of their expertise will accelerate the expansion process for MTS, taking the company to become the European reference point for the trading of Government Securities and other fixed-income instruments.
