In his address at the opening bell ceremony, Borsa İstanbul CEO Korkmaz Ergun contended as follows:
Distinguished guests,
Today, I welcome you all to the IPO ceremony we organized for the listing of Birleşim Mühendislik Isıtma Soğutma Havalandırma Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. to Borsa Istanbul.
Birleşim Mühendislik provides solutions for the needs of important projects developed in our country and abroad by assuming the mechanical and electrical works of companies. I would like to take this opportunity to compliment them for the initial public offering (IPO).
Distinguished guests,
This year 35 companies launched an IPO. The total amount of IPO’s is approximately 15 billion TL. Last year, the numbers were 1 billion TL with 8 companies. If we take into account that the profit of the banking sector was 33 billion TL in the first half of this year, we might be able to figure out the size of the IPO amounting to 15 billion.
We encourage our companies to fund their investments with IPO’s rather than bank loans.
Our companies are the national values of our country. They contribute to the growth of our country with production, investment, employment and exports.
I invite our companies to launch an IPO, to our Stock Exchange, so that they can strengthen their equity and achieve a more sustainable financial structure.
IPO is a process requiring meticulous efforts. In the background, it entails an important preparation process and great endeavour of all stakeholders: Intermediary institutions, independent auditors, lawyers, appraisers, consultants, most importantly company employees, individual and institutional investors, as well as CMB and Exchange employees, last but not least, the contribution of the press. All stakeholders have significant contributions.
