Boerse Stuttgart Turnover At Around EUR 8.1 Billion In January - Increases In Turnover Recorded In Equities, Securitised Derivatives, Debt Instruments And Investment Funds

Boerse Stuttgart’s turnover in January 2017 was around EUR 8.1 billion, according to its order book statistics. The overall trading volume was up more than 10 percent on the previous month and almost 17 percent year on year.

Securitised derivatives made up the largest share of the turnover in January. The trading volume in this asset class was in excess of EUR 3.3 billion – an increase of more than 6 percent on the previous month. Turnover in leverage products rose by almost 10 percent to around EUR 1.5 billion, and turnover in derivative investment products was about EUR 1.9 billion. The trading volume in this asset class was slightly higher than in the previous month and more than 26 percent higher than in January 2016.

At more than EUR 1.7 billion, equity trading volumes were up more than 6 percent month-on-month and around 33 percent when compared with January 2016. The trading volume for German equities rose to almost EUR 1.3 billion and for international equities to EUR 446 million.

Significant increases were also recorded in debt instrument (bond) trading in January. At around EUR 1.7 billion, trading was up more than 38 percent when compared with the previous month. This growth is mainly due to the larger number of new issues of corporate bonds. With an increase in trading volume of more than 46 percent compared with the previous month, corporate bonds accounted for the largest share of the turnover in debt instruments, at more than EUR 1.2 billion.

The order book turnover from trading in exchange-traded products (ETP) was more than EUR 1.2 billion – a month-on-month increase of more than 16 percent. Turnover in investment fund units was EUR 101.3 million in January, representing an increase in the trading volume of around 14 percent compared with the previous month.
