BNP Paribas Asset Management (‘BNPP AM’) today announced the appointment of Carmine De Franco, Ph.D. as Head of the Quant Equity portfolio management team, with effect from 9 July. Based in Paris, Carmine reports to Olivier Laplénie, Head of Quant Portfolio Management.
Carmine joins BNPP AM from Ossiam where he spent 12 years in various positions, first as Portfolio Manager and then as Head of Research and ESG, where he worked on the design, implementation, and management of quantitative strategies for global institutional clients. With extensive experience in systematic and responsible investment solutions, Carmine is a recognised figure in the field of quantitative finance, regularly speaking at industry conferences and contributing to financial researching papers. His recent research topics have focused on sustainability, applications of machine learning and artificial intelligence in finance, Bayesian learning and portfolio construction under uncertainty.

The Quant Equity portfolio management teams oversees over EUR 7.3 billion of quantitative assets, a significant part of which under the Sustainable Multi-factor Equity strategy which has displayed strong performance, ranking in the 1st quartile in both the Europe, US and US Value versions over 3 years[1].
Carmine holds a PhD in Probability and Finance from Université Denis Diderot - Paris VII.
