- Juan Flames, CEO of BME, and Carla Díaz Álvarez de Toledo, Director General of the Treasury and Financial Policy, will participate in the Forum’s opening ceremony

From tomorrow through May 28, the Madrid Stock Exchange Palace will host the 22nd edition of the Medcap Forum, the leading event for small- and mid-cap companies and investors, 20% of whom are international. The more than 100 companies and 170 investors will hold over 1,200 meetings.
Once again this year, the Forum will feature panel discussions with industry experts and professionals, as well as an extensive program of meetings between companies and investors. These sessions provide an opportunity to share strategies, refine investment decisions, and analyze portfolio composition.
Juan Flames, CEO of BME, who will be one of the speakers opening the forum, notes: “It is a pleasure to once again open the doors of the Stock Exchange to investors and companies for another year. The Forum will begin on the 26th at 9:30 a.m. with an opening presentation by Juan Flames and a special address by Carla Díaz Álvarez de Toledo. This will be followed by the first panel, moderated by Roger Freixes, Partner at CUATRECASAS, focusing on the initiatives being carried out by the EU, the OECD, and the CNMV with the support and collaboration of BME to strengthen capital markets and increase retail investor participation, featuring Enrique López, CEO of AMPER; Verónica Guerrikabeitia, Managing Director of Equity Capital Markets at Santander; and Juan Flames, CEO of BME.
On the first day, two additional panel discussions will take place. The first will focus on an analysis of the Spanish economy, featuring María Romero, managing partner at AFI; Natalia Aguirre, director of Analysis and Strategy at Renta 4 Banco; and Alicia Coronil, chief economist at Singular Bank.
In the afternoon, starting at 3:30 p.m., a panel on the challenges facing the Spanish real estate sector will take place, featuring speakers such as Jorge Morán, Vice President of Castellana Properties and LaFinca; Carmina Ganyet, Corporate General Manager of Colonial SOCIMI; and José García-Montalvo, Professor of Economics at Pompeu Fabra University. Rafael Pérez Guerra, Partner at PwC Spain, will moderate.
The day will conclude with a final panel discussion on FIBRAs: Mexican SOCIMIs, featuring presentations by Juan Sáenz-Diez, Vice President of CBRE Mexico; Javier Llaca, COO of Fibra MTY; Gonzalo de Robina, Deputy CEO of FIBRA UNO; and Rodolfo Balmaceda, President of Fibra Upsite. This panel will be moderated by Mirari Barrena, CEO of Expansión Latam and Armanext.
The second day of the event will feature a special presentation by Manuel Illueca, president of the Official Credit Institute (ICO), at 9:30 a.m., followed by three additional panel discussions. At 10:00 a.m., the panel “Capital for Growth: IPOs and Public-Private Partnerships” will take place, featuring Paz Guzmán, senior economic advisor at the European Investment Bank; Jorge Ramos, Head of Investment Banking in Spain & Portugal at Citi; Ángel Benito, general director of Markets at the CNMV; and Ignacio Escrivá de Romaní, partner at Cuatrecasas.
This will be followed by a panel discussion on BME Scaleup: Gateway to the Stock Markets, featuring Axel Serna, CEO of Bytetravel; Arvin Abarca, CEO of GrandVoyage; Axel Prieto, CEO of Grupo Eolo; and Elías Rodríguez-Viña, managing director of Renta 4 Banco Corporate, as moderator.
That same afternoon, a panel discussion will be held focusing on the analysis of small-cap stocks, featuring Carmen Pinto, CEO of Nicolás Correa; Manuel Ramos, president of Labiana Health; Jordi Rovira, CFO of Vytrus Biotech; Pedro Yagüez, fund manager at Columbus Investments Partners; Alberto Fernández, fund manager at Mutuactivos; and José Tamayo, managing director of Markets at GVC Gaesco.
The fixed-income panel will close the second day of the forum, featuring presentations by María Morales, Head of Fixed Income at Buy & Hold; Antonio Madera, Chief Economist at Ethifinance; Sergio Rodríguez, Head of Investment Management at GCO Gestión de Activos (Occident); and Luis Merino, Head of Fixed Income, Balanced Funds, and Fund Selection at Santalucía AM. The moderator will be Raquel Arechabala, Director of Investments and Business at Kutxabank Investment.
The closing day will be dedicated to two panels addressing key current issues. At 10:00 a.m., there will be a panel on new drivers in the defense and aerospace sector, followed by another panel on M&A and the stock markets, featuring experts such as Manuel de Oliveira, chief commercial officer of Amper; Ignacio Martínez González, managing director of IndraMind (Indra); Ricardo Gómez-Acebo, partner at Hyperion; Ezequiel Sánchez, executive chairman of PLD Space; and moderator Sara Herrando, director of Analysis at Kutxabank Investment.
The final panel on M&A will feature Francisco Velázquez, executive chairman of Axon Partners; Iciar Puell, managing director of Equity at CaixaBank AM; José Antonio Martínez, executive chairman and founder of Making Science; and Jesús Hernando Sarria, director of M&A at Seresco. This panel will be moderated by Mariano Colmenar, Director of LKS Next Corporate Finance.
