BME presented yesterday the book "Active management of Fixed Income portfolios: a practical approach", published as part of his collection "Estudios & Investigación". The book is aimed at professionals in portfolio management but is also geared to a wider public interested in gaining insight into the theoretical and practical aspects of Fixed Income management.
Its authors are the portfolio managers and finance professors Mario Bass and Emilio Rodriguez, who are currently working in the asset management division of the Bank of Spain.
Mario Bass has held positions of responsibility in the area of private banking in the financial sector and is a professor in Instituto BME, the training division of BME, and in the Escuela de Finanzas Aplicadas. Emilio Rodriguez has developed his career in the treasury and capital markets areas in the financial sector and is a professor in Instituto BME and in the Centro de Estudios Garrigues.
The book aims to provide professionals and the general public with the tools available for managing portfolios in Fixed Income markets, which are little known to retail investors but have a significant weight in the overall activity of the securities markets.
In recent years, BME has developed important innovations in the Spanish Fixed Income market through AIAF with initiatives such as SEND, BME’s electronic Fixed Income platform for retail investors, which incorporates both Public and Corporate Debt, and the Mercado Alternativo de Renta Fija (MARF), for the financing of growth SMEs.
These initiatives are intended to help companies, especially the smaller ones, to gain access to stock markets, a matter that is both a concern and a broad matter of discussion in Europe.
The book " Active management of Fixed Income portfolios: a practical approach" is an innovative contribution to financial education in Spain and to the aim of bringing Fixed Income to a wider audience as it provides the concepts, tools and technical elements necessary to design an investment strategy, analyse the different variables, build a portfolio of Fixed Income and calculate their returns.
