BME Holds The Second Gathering Of The Medcap Forum - The Event Will Have The Presence Of Around 70 Companies And More Than 250 Investors

Date 31/05/2006

Antonio Zoido, Chairman of BME, Spanish Exchanges, will today inaugurate the second gathering of the MedCap Forum, which BME will host on May 31th and June 1st. The CNMV’s Chairman, Manuel Conthe, will give a speech on the first day of the event.

In its second gathering, the Forum will have the presence of the main managers of around 70 Medium and Small Capitalisation listed companies as well as over 250 national and international investors, analysts and outstanding figures from the Spanish financial community.

The agenda will alternate sectoral panels with round tables on such matters of public interest as the internationalisation of Spanish companies, business transparency, liquidity boosting in these companies or risk assessment. During the Forum, bilateral meetings will take place between companies and investors, which will offer them deeper insight into these companies’ current situation and prospects.

The hosting of this Forum is part of the” Medium and Small Caps Project”, which encompasses a set of initiatives intended to boost the visibility of these companies and bring them closer to the financial community.

Over the last few years the Medium Small and capitalisation companies have increasingly aroused the attention of the financial markets and generated greater visibility. In July 2005, BME created two new indices, the IBEX MEDIUM CAP® and IBEX SMALL CAP®, designed to gauge the performance of these companies.

These indicators are intended to improve the visibility and tracking of Medium and Small Capitalisation companies. They are trackable and tradable, that is, their calculation method will allow the issuance of financial products based on them, such as ETFs, index funds or derivatives products.
