As of January 3, 2011, fees on CRI mortgage-backed securities will come down, in order to increase the efficiency and the liquidity of the market for this type of instrument.
In the case of investors who previously paid a trading fee of 0.1% over the value of each CRI purchase or sale, at a BRL 40 minimum, the rate will fall to 0.001% over the value of each operation at a BRL 10 minimum per trade.
Investors will be charged the custody fee in accordance to the table used in the variable income market, as set out in Circular Letter 082/2009. Whoever has up to BRL 300,000 will be exempted from the fee. Over this amount, fees will vary from 0.013% to 0.0005%. The current fee is 0.10%, with an annual minimum of BRL 1,500.00. The fee on the amount in custody will be calculated and charged monthly, based on the value of the investor’s portfolio on the last business day of every month.
