BM&FBOVESPA Launches Entrepreneurship Programs In Partnerships With Endeavor Institute And Babson College - Bota Pra Fazer Program Is For Beginners While High Impact Business Management And Growth Targets Entrepreneurs With Burgeoning Businesses

Date 22/11/2010

The Exchange launched two programs today for the creation and development of entrepreneurs, to be offered by the BM&FBOVESPA Educational Institute. Bota Pra Fazer (Sow to Reap) is a partnership with the Endeavor Institute and uses the methodology of the Kauffman Foundation – the world’s main foundation in entrepreneurial education and culture. Meanwhile, together with Babson College, the world’s main institution for entrepreneurial teaching, the BM&FBOVESPA Educational Institute will develop the program High Impact Business Management and Growth.

The agreements with the Endeavor Institute and Babson College were signed today at an event at BM&FBOVESPA, with the presence of the Exchange’s Chief Executive Officer Edemir Pinto; the Managing Director of Endeavor Brasil, Rodrigo Telles; Senior Vice President of Marketing & Communications of Endeavor Global, David Wachtel; and the Global Partnerships & Programs Associate Director of Babson College, Ênio Pinto. Also present was Mario Chady, founding partner and CEO of Grupo Úmbria (which owns the Spoleto, Domino's and Koni Store brands) and who presented his Brazilian and global entrepreneurial experience.

With the launch of these programs, BM&FBOVESPA seeks to disseminate among entrepreneurs concepts and practices related to corporate governance, risk management and the financing of their businesses, allowing them to grow and consolidate in the market. Another objective is to create conditions favorable for greater coordination between entrepreneurs and the capitals market in Brazil.

Bota pra Fazer

With the Bota pra Fazer program, the BM&FBOVESPA Educational Institute offers a complete educational platform for the creation of new businesses for those thinking of establishing an enterprise or who have already begun one. There are ten modules to this program, which teach how to develop an idea; identify opportunities; define financial targets; plan the product or service; analyze the market; reach clients; build an organization and team; calculate return; monitor cashflow; and seek resources, among other themes.

High Impact Business Management and Growth

The High Impact Business Management and Growth program is tailor-made for the BM&FBOVESPA Educational Institute by Babson College and seeks to grant established entrepreneurs knowledge of how to fine-tune their firms and to finance growth based on the standards of a listed company. In the first module “Managing a Growing Company” the subjects include management and leadership, business models, financial planning, professionalization and the need to maintain the enterprising spirit.

The second model “marketing for entrepreneurs” covers consumers, distribution channels, manufacturing models and production, competitive positioning, retail strategies, publicity and advertising, and media alternatives. The third module “Enterprise finance” shares knowledge about financing a growing business, about management advice, corporate governance and listing on the stock exchange.

The Educational Institute and entrepreneurship

Development of entrepreneurship is a focus of the BM&FBOVESPA Educational Institute, which also trains professionals for the financial and capital markets and qualifies investors. In June 2010, the Educational Institute established a partnership with the São José dos Campos Technology Park, to bring the financial and capital markets closer to new companies, to technology centers and to the research institutes that underpin innovative entrepreneurship.
