In July 2010, equity markets (Bovespa segment) traded BRL 113.0 billion, in 8,299,960 trades, with daily averages of BRL 5.38 billion and 395.236 trades, in comparison to June, when total volume reached BRL 122.6 billion, in 8,371,028 trades, with daily averages of BRL 5.84 billion and 398,620 trades.
The Ibovespa ended July at 67,515 points, up 10.7% from the previous month. The best performing stocks were: Cyrela Realt ON (+27.06%); Bradesco PN (+26.26%); MRV ON (+24.08%); Banco do Brasil ON (+23.89%); and Embraer ON (+23.81%). The worst performing stocks were: Telemar ON (-11.67%); Pão de Açucar PNA (-8.57%); Sabesp ON (-6.21%); Telemar Norte Leste PNA (-5.71%); and TIM Participações (-4.79%).
Derivatives markets in the BM&F segment (including financial and commodities derivatives) totaled 60,110,831 contracts and BRL 4.60 trillion in volume in July, compared to 43,313,807 contracts and BRL 2.87 trillion in June. The daily average of contracts traded in the derivatives markets in July was 2,862,421 contracts, in contrast to 2,062,562 in June. Open interest contracts ended the last trading day of July with 32,472,046 positions, compared to 41,100,845 in June.
