BM&FBOVESPA and the São Paulo Municipal Government inform you of the availability at www.bmfbovespa.com.br/carbonauction andhttp://www.prefeitura.sp.gov.br/cidade/secretarias/financas/servicos/outrosservicos/index.php?p=10374 of Notice of Invitation to Tender nº 001/2012, for a public auction to sell CER Certified Emission Reductions (carbon credits) held by the São Paulo Municipal Government.
The auction will offer a single lot of 530,000 CERs generated by the Bandeirantes Landfill Gas to Energy Project, in accordance with the terms of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM). The auction will take place at 10:30 a.m. (São Paulo Time) on June 12, 2012, by internet at www.bmfbovespa.com.br/carbonauction. The minimum bid price to purchase the CERs will be announced one day prior to the auction. Institutions interested in taking part in the auction have until May 7 to request prior authorization. The requirements for taking part in the auction and the rules and trading procedures for the carbon credits offer are provided in the Notice of Invitation to Tender.
About the Bandeirantes Landfill Gas to Energy Project
The Bandeirantes Landfill, which is a concession that the São Paulo Municipal Government has granted to a private company, makes use of a system for capturing the gaseous mixture that results from the decomposition of residues. The burning of this gaseous mixture and the resultant gas’s employment in electricity generation results in a greenhouse gas emissions reduction, as per the terms of the CDM.
