Bloomberg Launches Real-Time Industry Research Platform Globally

Date 26/06/2012

Bloomberg LP today announced the global roll-out of Bloomberg Industries(BI), the first and only portal to offer interactive, continuously updated industry research and data for business and financial professionals.

BI’s team of more than 100 research professionals now covers over 100 industries in North America, Europe and Asia from its hubs in New York, Princeton, NJ, London and Hong Kong. The industry research platform combines extensive analysis and thematic insights from experienced industry analysts combined with Bloomberg’s vast industry data, news and analytics. This is the latest major feature to be included in the Bloomberg Professional service, which has more than 310,000 subscribers worldwide.

“Corporate management and investment professionals need accurate, timely and thoughtful insights to make the right decisions,” said Dan Doctoroff, Bloomberg CEO and President. “Bloomberg Industries shows trends as they are happening and provides deep insights from some of the world’s most knowledgeable and respected industry analysts.”

BI senior analysts, who have an average of 17 years’ experience at top buy- and sell-side firms, create and manage in-depth data and analysis for each industry’s drivers, metrics, competitors, themes and earnings. The BI portal also aggregates information from more than 200 third-party providers, creating one of the largest central repositories for analyzing an industry’s past and present performance, as well as future forecasts.

“Our goal is to provide objective industry research, analysis and insights at our customers’ fingertips, so they can spend less time finding and manipulating data and more time creating value-added investment ideas,” said Tom Secunda, Bloomberg’s Co- Founder and Head of Financial Products and Services.

BI’s industry research, which does not include stock recommendations, is designed to complement the work of buy- and sell-side analysts and provide industry trends to analysts, portfolio managers, traders, salespeople, bankers and corporate management.
