April ETP flows favor emerging markets as non-U.S. developed markets equities struggle
- Global ETP flows of $11.1bn in April eased from robust March levels, but similar themes persisted, most notably emerging markets and investment grade corporate bonds
- Broad EM equity flows remained strong with $3.1bn in April, establishing the best two month total in over three years, and EM debt contributed an additional $2.1bn
- Investment grade corporate bonds generated half of fixed income flows of $8.4bn, though high yield slowed and U.S. and European government bonds experienced further outflows
- U.S. equities brought in $11.5bn, but flows moderated from March as the stock market rally subsided, GDP growth slowed and the Fed remained cautious
