In February, Midex (February 19th), All Stars (February 26th) and Mex (February 19th) reached their highest levels ever.
S&P/MIB index closed the month at 41,155 points (-2.5% compared to January 2007, +9.3% vs. February 2006), Mibtel at 31,868 (-1.9% compared to January 2007, +10.7% vs. February 2006), Midex at 43,537 points (-0.4% compared to January 2007, +18.9% vs. February 2006) and MIB at 31,005 (-2% compared to January 2007, +9.9% vs. February 2006).
All Stars index closed February 2007 at 17,649 points (+0.1% compared to January 2007, +12.4% vs. February 2006); Star at 21,889 (+1.1% compared to January 2007 and +16.3% vs. February 2006); TechStar at 12,324 (-1.3% compared to January 2007 and +6.7% vs. February 2006); Mex index of the Mercato Expandi at the end of February amounted to 12,477 points (-1% compared to January 2007 and +17.7% vs. February 2006).
CAPITALISATION
More than € 780 billion, 51.5% on GDP
The capitalisation of domestic companies at the end of January amounted to € 783.8 billion (-1.7% compared to January 2007 and +7.1% vs. February 2006).
The capitalisation/GDP ratio is 51.5%.
The number of listed companies at the end of February is 310, following the admission of Omnia Network on STAR segment (February 28th) and the delisting of Spoleto Crediti e Servizi from Expandi Market (February 8th).
SHARE TRADING
Highest record ever for turnover and share trading in a single day
In February 2007, the daily average of share trading amounted to € 5.6 billion (+7.1% compared to January 2007, + 29.3% vs. February 2006) and 313,176 contracts (+11% compared to January 2007, +24% vs. February 2006). It’s the second busiest month ever by number of contracts and third by turnover. On February 28th a record for share trading in a single day for turnover (€ 9.679 billion) and for contracts (510,090) has been reached.
The ETF trading in February 2007 reached a daily average amount of € 115.7 million (+17.2% compared to January 2007, +46.2% vs. February 2006) and an average of 6,659 contracts – new record ever - (+16.8% compared to January 2007, +79.4% vs. February 2006).
In February, the daily average of Securitised Derivatives trading (CW and Certificates) amounted to € 369 million (fourth busiest month ever by turnover, +45.2% vs. February 2006) and 22,896 contracts (+18.3% vs. February 2006).
IDEM
Highest record ever for traded contracts on stock options
In February IDEM, the Italian derivatives market, achieved the highest record ever for daily average trading of standard contracts amounting to 89,644 (the previous record was achieved in September 2006 with 75,333 contracts) with € 453.8 million turnover. With a total turnover of 1.8 million of contracts traded, stock options increased 21.4% vs. February 2006.
The daily trading average on IDEM was 129,000 standard contracts (+19.4% vs. February 2006, +16.9% vs. January 2007) with € 5.58 billion of turnover (+31.2% vs. February 2006, +10.7% vs. January 2007).

Trading on fixed-income securities achieved a daily average of € 592.5 million and 12,190 contracts.
