Mr. Fouad A.Rahman Rashid, Director of BSE received on Monday, 5th July 2010 Mr. Greg Wojciechowski, CEO of Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) and the accompanied delegation. During the visit, both parties discussed the possible areas of cooperation and development between both markets, especially those related to listing mutual funds, asset management funds, and hedge funds.
Bermuda Stock Exchange was established in 1971, and includes 700 issues listed. The market capitalization of BSX is US$200 billion. BSX is a member of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), the World Federation of Exchanges, and other regional and international federations related to capital markets.
The visit of BSX’s delegates comes along with the forum hosted in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The forum mainly focuses on the development of the capital markets sector between Bahrain and Bermuda. This forum comes as one of the results of the MOU previously signed during the visit of H.E. Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa to the U.S. concerning the economic and commercial cooperation between the two countries, and the cooperation agreement to avoid double taxation.
