Angela Knight calls for open and honest debate about three new bodies charged with banking supervision.
Looking beyond the FSA, the BBA's chief executive considered the respective future roles of the Prudential Regulatory Authority (PRA), the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and the Financial Policy Committee (FPC) in a blog posted on the eve of a Treasury Select Committee hearing on the FCA.
Of the PRA and the FCA, Angela Knight wrote:
"It is essential that our new regulators talk together and act together. We need one place where reporting data is sent, not two. Supervision must be conducted coherently by both authorities."
