Barbara Judge will take up her post on 1 March 2004. The appointment is for three years.
Patricia Hewitt said:
"This is a new post, arising from the expansion of the FRC to take on new functions following my Department's review of the regulatory regime for the accountancy profession. An important aspect of the post is that the post- holder is independent of the three main groups that have a direct interest in the FRC, business, government and the accountancy profession.
"Barbara Judge has the experience and independence to provide the necessary credibility to help deliver the important work the FRC is taking forward."
Barbara Judge said:
"I am pleased to be joining the FRC at such an important time, and am looking forward to working with the talented people already assembled for the task of developing the FRC's role in fostering high quality financial stewardship and corporate governance."
