The Bank of England is delighted to announce the appointment of Michael Kumhof as the
Senior Research Advisor in the Bank’s new Research Hub. This is a new role set up as part of the Bank’s recent Strategic Plan. The Research Hub itself has the aim of expanding the Bank’s research capacity and influence in our areas of policy responsibility. Michael will play a key part in leading this.
Michael joins the Bank from the IMF, where he has most recently been the Deputy Division Chief of the Economic Modelling Division in the IMF’s Research Department. Michael brings a wealth of experience from academia, banking and ten years at the IMF. His research has covered an array of key central banking issues.
Andy Haldane, the Bank’s Chief Economist commented: “This is an important new role at the Bank and I am extremely pleased that we have recruited such exceptional talent as Michael. I very much look forward to working with him as we establish our new approach to research at the Bank.”
