Today, Gilson Filkelsztain, B3’s CEO, Juca Andrade, B3’s Chief Product and Client Officer, and Roberto Belchior, B3’s Market Development Director for Latin America and BYMA’s director, were welcomed by the president of BYMA (Buenos Aires Stock Exchange), Ernesto Allaria, in an event that celebrated the agreement between both exchanges.
During the visit, the executives highlighted the key drivers for the growth of Latin American markets and talked about the next steps in the joint initiative undertaken by B3 and BYMA.
The agreement between the two exchanges was signed in April this year when they announced that BYMA would begin trading Merval Index Futures contracts using the B3 PUMA Trading System platform. But, trades didn´t start until July.
Among the next projects are BYMA’s trading Ibovespa Peso x Real futures contracts. This project does not yet have a defined date to start. Both CEOs reaffirmed their goal of working collaboratively to integrate the region's markets.
"It is a pleasure for B3 to work together with BYMA and offer our solid infrastructure and credibility to trade futures contracts. We are committed to making this partnership grow so that the region can increasingly attract international investors given its great potential," said B3’s CEO Gilson Filkelsztain.
President of BYMA, Ernesto Allaria, stated: "We believe that Argentina and the region have a great growth potential and that a coordinated effort among its markets will offer opportunities for the access of foreign investors, incorporating new variables into the equation", he said. "We seek to expand our partnership with B3 and since we began trading the Merval Index Futures, the results have been quite satisfactory," added Allaria.
