The number of equity transactions rose by 44.4 per cent in 2000 to 14.81 million. The average number of daily transactions rose 45 per cent to 58,770 while the turnover by volume was 171.5 billion or a rise of 51.2 per cent.
The market liquidity also increased to 58.4 per cent from 53 per cent in 1999.
The number of new entities listing during the year jumped 28 per cent to 182, with 103 of those new listings taking place between July and December 2000.
