Australian Stock Exchange Limited: Resignation Of Director

Date 17/06/2003

Australian Stock Exchange Limited (ASX) today announced the forthcoming resignation of nonexecutive director Mr John Fraser, which will take effect from 30 June 2003.

Mr Fraser has been an ASX board member since 1997. He brought to ASX many years of experience in financial markets from his twenty-year career with Australian Treasury including his role in representing Australian economic interests at the International Monetary Fund and as the Minister (Economic) at the Australian embassy in Washington. Mr Fraser also brought valuable insights from his experience in Asia Pacific financial markets and, more recently, as a result of his role as the Global Chairman and CEO of UBS Global Asset Management and a member of the UBS AG Group Executive Board.

Mr Fraser has been resident in London since early 2002 as a result of his position with UBS. The demands of this position and the requirement to travel to Australia frequently to participate in ASX board meetings lead Mr Fraser to resign his position on the ASX board.

ASX Chairman, Maurice Newman, expressed on behalf of the Board his sincere appreciation to Mr Fraser for his invaluable contribution to ASX.
