In August except from WIRR index all the other indices decreased. The index, which decreased the most was index WIG20 composed of shares of the twenty largest and most traded companies on the main market.

Cash market turnover amounted to PLN 22 432 million and was 7% higher than in July. On the futures market turnover totalled PLN  30,566  million and was 9% lower than in the previous month.

On August 3, 2006, company Qumak-Sekom debuted on the WSE.

7,050,082 shares of the A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, PZ01, PP01 series and 2,500,000 allotment certificates for shares of the I series were introduced to trading. Qumak-Sekom is one of the leaders on Polish telecommunication market. The company offers also building management systems and IT security systems.

On August 4, 2006, company FAMUR debuted on the WSE.

4,041,690 shares of the A series and 458,310 allotment certificates for shares of the B series were introduced to trading. The company FAMUR S.A. is a dominant part of the Capital Group, whose activity is focused on production of equipment for mining sector.

On August 10, 2006, company INTERFERIE debuted on the WSE.

5,000,000 allotment certificates for shares of the B series were introduced to trading. The main activity of the company is sale of domestic and international tourist services. 

On August 17, 2006, company ASTARTA HOLDING N.V. debuted on the WSE.

25,000,000 shares were introduced to trading. The seat of the company is located in Amsterdam. The main operation company controlled by ASTARTA HOLDING N.V., is Astarta-Kyiv and is the agri-industrial holding and one of the leaders on Ukrainian sugar sector. The activity of the company is mostly focused on production and sales of sugar beet, sugar by-products and related services. Since August 18, 2006, the shares of the company SOKOLOW were excluded from trading.

On August 18, 2006, company HYPERION debuted on the Exchange.

6,475,000 shares of the A series,  5,000,000 shares of the B series and 5,000,000 allotment certificates for shares of the B series were introduced to trading.

In the issuer’s Capital Group there are 8 units, whose activity is focused on internet services, including internet access, web hosting services, maintaining internet domain, creating websites, IP services, etc. In the issuer’s Capital Group is active 24 cities of central, eastern and southern Poland.

On August 21, 2006, the investment certificates of the series A issued by BPH FUNDUSZ INWESTYCYJNY ZAMKNIĘTY DOCHODÓW SUROWCOWYCH were quoted for the first time.

On August 22, 2006, 2-year bond of the A22 series issued by BPH S.A., maturing on September 7, 2006 were quoted for the last time (abbreviated name: BPHOB0906).

On August 22, 2006, company One-2-One debuted on the Exchange.

1,300,000 allotment certificates for shares of the B series were introduced to trading.

The issuer and its capital group acts mostly on the market of mobile services, esp. using the mobile phones. It creates advanced mobile application, complex mobile interactive services and mobile marketing.

On August 23, the WSE Supervisory Board admitted Estonian investment company, AS SUPREMA SECURITIES and a Polish one, IPOPEMA Brokerage House to act as remote members on the WSE.

On August 25, 2006, new instruments were introduced on the WSE- structured instruments. The structured bonds issued by London Deutsche Bank were introduced to trading as the first ones.

The offerer was BDM PKO BP. The value of structured instruments depends on the value of risk factors (e.g. price of shares, indices’ values, exchange rates). These are issued by financial institutions, mostly banks and brokerage houses.
