Athens Derivatives Exchange Commenced Trading on August 27

August 27 saw the official start of market operations of the Athens Derivatives Exchange (ADEX) and the Athens Derivatives Exchange Clearing House (ADECH). The intraday volatility for the futures on the FTSE/ASE-20 and the cash market was rather low (betweeen 2802 and 2826 for the front series) and the volume for all traded series was 602 contracts. During the day there was a working visit in ADEX by the President of the Capital Markets Commission, Mr Stavros Thomadakis and the President of the Athens Stock Exchange, Mr Spiros Koyniakis. The exchange also had a visit by Prof. Manolis Xanthakis, ex-President of the Athens Stock Exchange and one of the major contributors to the establishment of the new market.. The exchange would like to remind that the creation of the new market has been a major joint effort in which ADEX and ADECH staff co-operated closely with: the IT department of the Athens Stock Exchange (ASYK), the project subcontractors Infoquest and Decision, OM Technology and OM Exchange,the Computer Technology Institute of Patras University, Wiener Borse (the Vienna Derivatives Exchange), the Athens Stock Exchange, The Central Securities Depository, The Capital Markets Commission, and The Ministry of Finance
