ASX Share Day - Understanding The Trick Of The Trade

The Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) will hold its annual Share Day on Saturday 4 March 2000, at the Adelaide Convention Centre, North Terrace, Adelaide to assist members of the public interested in share investment to understand how the sharemarket works. The theme of the day, "understanding the trick of the trade" will highlight to new and existing investors that there is no magic to successful investing just a need for a sound understanding of the how the market operates and who to turn to for assistance. Share Day provides an opportunity for interested members of the public to meet and talk with the full range of participants in the finance industry including industry professionals such as stockbrokers, financial planners, warrant dealers, margin lenders and software providers. One of the highlights of ASX Share Day are the investment talks delivered by industry professionals and a number of notable guest speakers. This year's speakers include David Koch and Noel Whittaker. Share trading demonstrations will run throughout the day, giving visitors a unique opportunity to see how shares are actually bought and sold on the Stock Exchange Automated Trading System (SEATS). This year the demonstrations will include 'Monitoring Share Trading' to illustrate ASX surveillance operations, which ensure the high integrity of the market. Cyber-tours of ASX's Internet site, which will help investors to find a stockbroker to suit their investment needs and access both the live All Ordinaries index as well as more than 4,000 individual share and option prices are also planned. Admission is $5 per person, which will cover all activities on the day, and children under 18 years will be admitted free. ASX Share Day will take place from 9am to 5pm.
