ASX Runs Share Day For Investors
Date 23/11/1999
Want to get involved with the sharemarket, but don't know where to start? Heard that the sharemarket historically has consistently outperformed other forms of investment, and want a closer look? Or perhaps retirement is looming and you need to examine what options are available to ensure your lifestyle is protected.
Whether you're an experienced trader or a first-time investor just exploring the subject, there is one over-riding rule: information is the key to successfully investing in the sharemarket. All else begins from this rule, which is why it pays to visit the Australian Stock Exchange's (ASX) Share Day this Saturday.
Share Day offers you an unparalleled opportunity to meet and talk with the full range of participants in this exciting industry. On hand will be financial experts such as stockbrokers, financial planners, warrant dealers, margin lenders and software providers - all of whom can help you to plan for your financial future.
Among the highlights of Share Day are the investment talks, sponsored by Seven Nightly News, delivered by a number of notable guest speakers. This year's speakers include the Seven Network's David Koch and The Sunday Mail's finance columnist, Noel Whittaker. These talks should interest everyone considering entering the sharemarket, or looking to further their involvement, and will be presented in an easy, no-fuss manner accessible to all levels of experience and knowledge.
For those interested in seeing how shares are bought and sold, ASX will be running demonstrations of the Stock Exchange Automated Trading System (SEATS), the computer system used by all stockbroking firms to trade on the sharemarket.
This year ASX will also feature 'Monitoring Share Trading' - a demonstration of ASX surveillance operations used to ensure the high integrity of the market, with fair trading in a transparent and fully informed marketplace.
There will also be cyber-tours of ASX's Internet site which will help you find a stockbroker to suit your investment needs, obtain a daily commentary on sharemarket activity and access both the live All Ordinaries index as well as more than 4,000 individual share and option prices.
Share Day details: Share Day will be held in Brisbane on Saturday 27 November in the Great Hall, Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, Cnr Merivale & Glenelg Streets, South Bank, Brisbane. Share Day starts at 9am and finishes at 5pm. Admission is $5 per person, which will cover all the investment talks, displays and demonstrations.
