ASX Online Courses Free Of Charge

Date 18/11/2002

Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) has removed fees on all online investor education courses on share investing, effective immediately.

At a previous cost of $80 per course, the decision to offer free access to online education was made in support of ASX's goal to increase investors' awareness, competence and ability to trade in the market with confidence.

Widely recognised for their high-quality, independent information, the ASX online courses are designed to help beginners learn the fundamentals of investing and cover a range of investor products such as shares, interest rate securities, options and warrants.

Including the popular "Starting in the sharemarket" the following courses have been made available free-of-charge on a trial basis:

  • Starting in the sharemarket
  • Tracking your sharemarket investment
  • Analysing and selecting shares
  • Developing your investment portfolio
This is in addition to two other courses that have always been available free:
  • Getting started in options and warrants
  • Getting started in interest rate securities
Stephen Mills, Executive General Manager of Corporate Relations and Investor Services said the decision to make the courses free demonstrated ASX's commitment to help educate investors. "ASX has a unique position in the market that allows us to offer completely independent and unbiased sharemarket education. We also believe we have a responsibility to help equip investors to make wise investment decisions."

ASX also offers a range of free educational brochures on ASX investment products as well as more in-depth face-to-face fee based courses. For more information, contact ASX on 1300 300 279 or visit www.asx.com.au/courses.
