The Board of ASX Limited (ASX) today announced the appointments of Mr David Gonski AO and Mr Shane Finemore as directors of the Company from 1 June 2007.
Mr Gonski is one of Australia's most prominent directors. He has been the chair or a director of some of Australia’s largest and most significant corporations and not-for-profit organisations.
The ASX Chairman, Mr Maurice Newman AC, welcomed Mr Gonski. He said: “Mr Gonski brings considerable acumen and broad-ranging experience to ASX. He has been appointed at this time to provide a candidate from within the Board as a successor to me following the Annual General Meeting in 2008.”
Mr Gonski said: “I regard myself as very privileged to be able to contribute to ASX as it builds on the benefits of the merger with SFE.”
Mr Finemore was formerly Managing Director and Head of the US Fundamental Investment Group at UBS Investment Bank. He was a member of the UBS Investment Bank Board, US Equities Operating Committee and co-chaired the US Equities Trading Committee. Mr Finemore is an internationally recognised expert in securities exchanges. Mr Newman said: "His first-hand knowledge and experience will be of benefit to the Board in this rapidly changing industry."
Mr Finemore said: “The ASX is a wonderful business with excellent management and I am looking forward to joining the Board.”
