As part of the continuing Board renewal process announced on 4 August 2009, the Board of ASX Limited (ASX) announces today the appointment of Ms Jillian Broadbent AO as a non-executive director of the company. Ms Broadbent will become a director of ASX on 1 February 2010 and will stand for election to the Board at ASX’s 2010 AGM.
Ms Broadbent is a member of the Board of the Reserve Bank of Australia and a director of Coca-Cola Amatil Limited and the Special Broadcasting Service (SBS). Her extensive experience in the corporate banking and finance sectors, in Australia and overseas, includes a long executive career with Bankers Trust Australia and past directorships of major companies including Woodside Petroleum, Qantas Airways and various Westfield trusts.
ASX Chairman, Mr David Gonski AC, welcomed Ms Broadbent’s appointment saying: “Jillian’s corporate financial skills and leadership experience as a director of some of Australia’s major companies will strengthen the existing expertise of the ASX Board. This is positive for ASX, our shareholders and our many market stakeholders.
“Jillian’s appointment is another step in ASX’s process of Board renewal that began in 2007 to ensure we have the right blend of contemporary skills and fresh thinking to deal with the challenges faced by ASX and the financial markets generally. I look forward to the perspectives that Jillian will contribute to our deliberations.”
