SIFMA today announced the addition of Aseel Rabie to SIFMA's Office of General Counsel as managing director and associate general counsel.
Rabie will work across many issues in SIFMA's portfolio, including anti-money laundering and derivatives. She will report to Ira Hammerman, SIFMA’s General Counsel.
“We are pleased to welcome Aseel to SIFMA,” Hammerman said. “Her talent, experience and expertise in a breadth of corporate and securities issues, within both the public and private sectors, will be an invaluable asset to our work advocating on behalf of our members.”
Rabie served as senior counsel in the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Office of the General Counsel from 2011 to 2013. During her time there she was involved in SEC rulemaking, including the adoption of derivative product definitions under the Dodd-Frank Act and the proposal to implement Title II of the JOBS Act.
Previously in her legal career, Rabie practiced at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP and Intelsat. She received both her undergraduate and law degrees from Harvard University.
