Ahmed El-Sheikh, Chairman of The Egyptian Exchange (EGX), and Hazem ElAshmony, Governor of Sharqia, held a session with students from Zagazig University and a group of local youth following their participation in an educational seminar on the basics of investing in EGX. This seminar took place at the Public Library of Egypt in Zigzag.
El-Sheikh emphasized the importance of cultivating an investment mindset among youth and pointed to the advantages of investing in EGX, which offers diversification across various economic sectors.
This is part of the activities of the 9th edition of EGX for Development Forum, held under the auspices of Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of Egypt. The event was attended by Dr. Ahmed Abdel-Moaty, Lobna Abdel-Aziz, Deputy Governors, the Military Advisor to the Governor, and Shaaban Abu El-Fotouh, Head of the Zagazig Center and City.
EGX Chairman emphasized the importance of promoting financial literacy among youth and expanding the investors’ base from across various governorates. He pointed out that financial markets provide companies with diverse opportunities for fundraising. He highlighted the need to increase investment awareness and shift the perception of the stock market, especially among youth, seeing it as a means of investment and economic development rather than just speculation.
El-Sheikh also explained the importance of promoting rational consumption habits, ensuring that spending aligns with actual needs, and saving amounts that can eventually accumulate over time. This approach will transform into a 'cumulative, planned investment.' Such a process will help preserve the value of money and contribute to community and economic development." For his part, Governor of Sharqia emphasized the role of EGX in boosting the national economy and stressed the importance of capturing the investment opportunities offered by listing and investing in EGX across various.
The Governor added that the governorate has clear economic, agricultural, and tourism diversity, and is seeking partnership with EGX to enhance the role of the financial market in supporting economic entities within the governorate. This partnership would help companies access the necessary funding for growth, achieve their goals, and expand their business activities.
The Governor stated, "Today's meeting is a great opportunity to learn about the advantages of EGX and to explore new ways to cooperate in promoting financial inclusion and raise awareness about EGX activities, ultimately achieving the necessary partnership to strengthen the national economy and drive development."
During the meeting, a dialogue session was held with youth to address their inquiries about how to benefit from listing and investing in EGX, and to explain listing steps, investment basics, and the rules and criteria that ensure effective investment to achieve targeted investment goals.
The Governor of Sharqia and EGX Chairman took a commemorative photo with the youth to promote investment awareness and change the perception of EGX, especially among youth.
The Forum activities concluded with a visit to the medical caravan, organized in collaboration with the governorate, EGX Sustainability Foundation (EGX’s social arm), and the Ra'ei Misr Foundation for Development. The caravan was set up at the Family Medicine Unit in Hariyet Ruzna Village, Zagazig, offering medical services in orthopedics, pediatrics, internal medicine, and ophthalmology.
The Governor and EGX Chairman, who is also the Chairman of EGX Sustainability Foundation, praised the role of civil society organizations as essential partners in the development process. They highlighted their fruitful collaboration with executive authorities to implement health initiatives supporting the most deserving groups and providing them with free health services, aiming for a healthy and sound community.
The Governor and EGX Chairman also monitored the medical examinations, where approximately 800 patients received consultations in various clinics. They toured the orthopedics and ophthalmology clinics and witnessed the distribution of eyeglasses to the beneficiaries of the caravan.
