(Excerpt)

(Wednesday, June 3, 2026, 8:44 am to 8:52 am)

Minister)

Thank you very much for gathering late last night, at around 10:30 p.m. I would also like to thank several media organizations for promptly reporting on the matter. As I stated last night, U.S.-based Anthropic has announced that it will expand participation in Project Glasswing to include organizations outside the United States. Some Japanese financial institutions are also included among the new participants in the project. It has been a little over three weeks since I reached an agreement on this matter with Secretary Bessent. He said it would take two weeks, and although it has taken a little longer, I believe the response was still made within a timeframe that reflects good faith. I am very grateful for that. In addition to this matter, the Japanese Ministry of Finance and the U.S. Department of the Treasury have been discussing various other issues in order to respond to the current international financial situation. I am pleased that this matter has moved forward as part of these efforts. Strengthening security is, in any event, absolutely essential. For Japanese financial institutions that are aiming to be among the world’s leading institutions, it is essential that they do not fall behind their counterparts in other countries in this area. There is no doubt that this development will contribute to strengthening their capabilities, and I therefore firmly welcome it. Moreover, if Japan can acquire this expertise and develop methods for cyber defense, the benefits will extend throughout the country. Taking this into account as well, I intend to work closely with the relevant organizations, particularly with the Minister in charge of Cybersecurity.
