Announcement Of Kosdaq Star Index And Upward Revision Of Kosdaq Composite Index

Beginning from Jan 26, 2004, Kosdaq Stock Market introduces Kosdaq Star Index, which will comprise of 30 companies predicated on financial stability, corporate governance and market representativeness. As a blue chip and product-oriented index, it is expected to complement the existing Kosdaq Composite and stimulate development of diverse index-related derivatives.

In order to enhance index sensitivity and comparability with other markets, Kosdaq Stock Market will adjust the base value of Kosdaq Composite Index from 100 to 1000. The revision will be effective as of Jan. 26, 2004 and retroactive to Jul. 1, 1996. This measure is taken in line with the global trend from mid 90's that base indices are 1000 or higher.

As the 5-day workweek system is taking hold in Korea, interest in the recreation and culture industry has been receiving more attention. In order to reflect and increase the visibility of this high interest, Kosdaq Stock Market has created a Recreation & Culture Index. The base date is Jan. 2, 2003 (base value = 1000).
