Andre Villeneuve Is Appointed New Chairman Of LIFFE

The Board of the London International Financial Futures and Options Exchange, part of the Euronext Group N.V., has announced the appointment of Andre Villeneuve, (58), as its new non-executive Chairman with immediate effect. Mr. Villeneuve was previously Executive Chairman of Instinet, the world's largest electronic agency broker of equities.

Jean-François Théodore, Chairman and Chief Executive of the Euronext N.V. Managing Board said: "I am extremely pleased that someone with such excellent credentials and knowledge of the financial services industry as Mr Villeneuve has accepted the position of non-executive Chairman in one of the most innovative and successful companies in the Euronext group."

Andre Villeneuve's career at Reuters began in 1967 when he joined the organisation as a journalist and included roles as President of the company's business in North America (1981 to 1990), taking charge of Latin America as well in 1986 and heading Reuters' geographical units (1991 to 1998).

He served as Chairman of the Instinet Group from 1990, and as Executive Chairman, based in New York, from 1999 until his retirement in 2002.
