The primary market experienced a fall in the value of shares admitted to listing, but the value of newly listed bonds increased by more than 200% compared with June 1999, amounting to Eur 12.1 billion.
The number of contracts traded on Amsterdam Exchanges' options market rose 3% in June to 4.2 million, chiefly as a result of heavier trading in equity options. There was also a sharp rise in the number of option contracts outstanding. At the end of June, open interest amounted to 13.4 million contracts, up more than 22% on the same month last year.
